Unfortunately BCBS in Louisiana does not credential lactation consultants, but we can assist you in completing necessary forms to submit for reimbursement. Different states vary their reimbursement with Louisiana policies frequently reimbursing nearly all of consultation fees. Please note, payment will be due at the time of service. Tricare Coverage Update: Effective June 1, 2025, Lactation Resource Center is no longer able to accept Tricare, nor will you be able to seek reimbursement by Tricare; however, I am proud to support military families and will offer a $25 Military Discount for active duty families. Many other insurance companies do cover lactation services, but coverage for out of network providers varies with policies. When contacting your insurance company, here’s what you need to know:

• Your insurance may require pre authorization and/or a physician referral.
• You may need to request a “Provisional” or “Gap Exception” to receive coverage.
• After your visit you will receive a detailed coded receipt that you can submit for reimbursement.
• Payment will be due at the time of service. I accept cash, checks, and credit cards (including HSA and FSA cards)
• Important: Coverage is not guaranteed. If you are having trouble with your insurer, you can use a sample script from the National Women’s Law Center Tool Kit National Women’s Law Center Tool Kit to advocate for your benefits.
